MAPA Statement on Shooting Deaths

The Minnesota Academy of Physician Associates mourns the tragic killings of peaceful observers Renee Good and Alex Pretti and extends our deepest condolences to their families, loved ones, and all members of the community affected by this violence.

As healthcare professionals, Physician Associates are committed to advocating for safe, accessible, and equitable healthcare for all people, regardless of immigration status or background. We are deeply concerned about how fear, violence, and trauma negatively impact individual and community health, erode trust, and create barriers to seeking needed medical care.

We call for approaches that prioritize de-escalation, transparency, accountability, and the protection of human life, recognizing that public safety practices have lasting effects on physical and mental health.

We honor the lives lost and reaffirm our commitment to standing with patients, families, and communities in advocating for a healthier, safer Minnesota for all.
