Essay Question 3: Minnesota has a growing immigrant population, and as a PA, you are likely to see many people who have immigrated to the United States from various countries. Imagine you are a PA in a family medicine clinic and are seeing a patient who is new to the clinic. She recently immigrated from Colombia with her three young kids, does not speak English, and does not have insurance. She would like to establish care with you moving forward. What social determinants of health would you anticipate she and her family may be facing? How would you approach providing comprehensive medical care for her? What creative solutions/social support would you recommend?
